Community Service Hours:
A total of 10 hours per semester are required to maintain your NHS membership in good standing. At least 5 of those 10 hours must be acquired from an NHS--approved activity/event (see below).. Remaining hours may be acquired from any other community service activity that is approved by a signature or proof of participation..
For Fall 2018, service hours are due by December 5, 2018. For Spring 2019, service hours are due by May 10, 2019.. If your service hours are not completed and turned in by the due date, your NHS membership status will be affected (you will not be considered a member in good standing).
Blank forms can be picked up in person from Mrs. Flynn in room 506 or you can download from this site (see below).
NOTE: Following are some community service opportunities which are available to NHS members. Summer hours do count towards your Fall community service hours requirement.

GHVS Campus Beautification Days: For Fall 2018, campus beautification dates for Fridays are: September 7th, October 5th, and November 9th. Meet at the flag pole by 8:00 am. Have an NHS officer sign your service hours form. Spring 2019 campus beautification dates are: February 8th, March 8th, April 12th, and May 3rd. Meet at the flag pole. Have an NHS officer sign your service hours form.
Any GVHS event held on campus is considered an NHS-approved activity/event for community service hours. For example, if you wish to help out with an ASB event or volunteer to work a basketball game or help set up for a school dance... those are all considered NHS-approved activities/events. You must coordinate with the teacher or advisor of that given event or activity in advance, get their approval for you to volunteer for the event, and get their signature on your community service hour sheet.
