Many Families, One Community Family Resource Fair will be held at Golden Valley High School on Saturday February 23, 2019. This is year three of our collaboration between the Hart District and the Sulphur Springs School District. More information is coming!

Many Families One Community Annual Art Contest

Theme: Many Families One Community Students from the Sulphur Springs Union School District and La Mesa Junior High, Sierra Vista Junior High, Canyon High and Golden Valley High Schools are welcome to participate in the second annual student visual arts contest. Entries will be displayed at the Many Families One Community Family Resource Fair on Saturday, February 23, 2019 at Golden Valley High School. Awards will be presented to all participating students in each of the grade level spans (TK - 3, 4 - 6, 7 -8, and 9 -12). Entries are due to the student’s school office no later than 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 23rd. Please consider completing entries before winter break.

The boys dropped their contest to Hart 5 to 2 and the girls dropped their contest 9 to 0. All soccer teams compete against Canyon on Thursday.

Both varsity squads dropped their Foothill League openers. Hart boys won 78 to 48. The Lady Grizzlies dropped their game to Hart by a 65 to 34 score. Next Thursday all teams compete against Canyon HS.

CIFSS Girls Tennis Update

Off the tennis court they are good friends.Even on the court they sometimes team up to play doubles. But for a two-hour window on Friday at the Seal Beach Tennis Center in Orange County, Golden Valley’s Justine Dondonay and Chadwick School’s Casie Wooten were opponents, facing off in the semifinals of the CIF-Southern Section Girls Tennis Championships. The Signal covers Dondonay's match.

By Patti Rasmussen Signal Staff Writer He’s only been in the United States for three years, but Tymofii Kashchenko, who goes by Tim, finds California kids very much like those he knew in the Ukraine. Walking into Golden Valley High School as a freshman in 2015, Tim had just turned 14 and knew no English. His teachers found him friendly, open and charismatic.
