Agenda 3/14 Friday

1. Luggage Tag Research - finish the research on the author you were assigned yesterday.  If you need instructions on this activity, see the two documents posted below.

2.  Begin creating your luggage tag - use an index card as your tag.  Make sure the following items are on your tag (you may use both sides if needed):

a. your name

b. author's name

c. dates

d. published works

e. contributions to Transcendentalism

f. quotes

g. beliefs

h. a symbol or picture that represents your author

HW: finish creating your luggage tag and bring it to class on Monday.  We will be doing an activity with these tags, so if you do not bring your completed tag to class, you will lose points for the day.

Luggage Tags Assignment and Research Q's

Open this file and put it in a Google Doc.  Title it "Luggage Tag Research Questions" and share it with me.  This file will guide you through the research you need to conduct for the Luggage Tag activity discussed in class.  You will have the class period tomorrow to work on finding your research.

Annotating Guide

Open this file, and make sure to put your name, period and date at the top.  Title it "Transcendentalism Annotation Guide."  Be sure to share it with me: [email protected].  As you read the article using the link below, fill out this annotation guide.  This is homework if not finished in class today.

1. Journal #5 Vocab 11.4

2. Journal #6 Transcendentalism KWL Chart - In your journal, create a chart with three columns, and title them "Know", "Want to Know" and "Learned."  Fill out the first column with 2-3 facts that you already know and the second with 3 questions or things you would like to know.  After reading the article and completing the annotation guide, fill the final column with 5 facts you have learned.

3. Transcendentalism article and annotation guide - go to the website below and read the article that gives an overview of Transcendentalism.  Fill out the annotation guide on a Google Doc as your read.  Be sure to share the Google Doc with me.

Emerson intro to Transcendentalism

Together as a class we close read the short passages from Emerson's "Nature", which is one of the texts we will be exploring in more detail.  We answered the questions as a class and talked about some of the themes we saw that will be examined during this unit.

2. EAP Self Edit - using the EAP essay you wrote yesterday, perform a "self edit" using the Peer Edit worksheet to identify your strengths and weaknesses with the EAP.  This should be completed in class and stapled to your original essay.
