Monday will be the final day of SBAC testing.   Be prepared to present your posters on Tuesday.  I will give you a small portion of class to finish any details for your poster.

1. SBAC Test Day Two

*You will have time on Monday to prepare and present your posters.  You may take the posters home, but be sure to bring them back for presentations on Monday!

Agenda 3/24 Monday

1. Continue working in your groups to finish your Transcendentalism Movie Poster.  This will be presented to the class on Thursday*.

*You will be taking the Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium (SBAC) this week.  This is a four day test that will take place in class tomorrow, Wednesday, Friday and Monday of next week.  This test does not affect your grade in this class, it is simply a tool to measure your progress toward college and career readiness.  You will take the test in class with me, so make sure you arrive on time each day.

Agenda 3/21 Friday

1 hour late start

1. Share HW from last night - pick a song you found with Transcendental theme(s) and share it with the class.

2. "Transcendentalism: The Movement and the Movie" poster assignment - assign groups and begin working on creating your poster.  Posters will be presented on Tuesday.


*I am submitting grades today; anything shared with me or turned in late after today will not count towards your Quarter 3 Grade.*

Agenda 3/20 Thursday

1. Finish "Nature" question packet in groups

2. Journal #2: Vocab 12.1 - you should already have this in your journal; remember that I gave it to you a few weeks ago.  This is just a reminder to now include it in your journal for the next check.

3. Journal #3: Transcendental Themes in Music - we will listen to a sample of modern songs and find Transcendental themes in the lyrics.

HW: Find two more songs that have Transcendental themes in their lyrics.  Write the songs on the back of the handout you used for Journal #3, and include an explanation of how they show the theme(s) we discussed.

*Grades for Quarter 3 will be submitted tomorrow!  Let me know at brunch or lunch if there is any late work you would like included.

1. Finish Transcendental author graphic organizer - staple luggage tag to your organizer and turn it in to your period basket.

2. Journal #1: Transcendental Texts

     a. read the piece of test on your desk, then, in your journal, write a short, individual summary about it.

     b. in your group, share your individual summaries and come up with a group summary.  Record this summary in your journal

3. Questions packet as a group

*I will submit grades on Friday - be sure to let me know if you make up any work*

1. Vocab 11 Quiz

2. Turn in Journals to your period shelf

3. Luggage Tag Swap: you will teach a partner about the author you researched using the tag you created, and then your partner will then teach you about their author.  Important information and facts should be recorded on the graphic organizer provided (see the attachment above if you were absent or need a new copy).  After you have both taught about your author, swap your cards - you should have a new author's luggage tag.  Find a new partner and repeat the process until you have a completed graphic organizer.
