3/5/15 Thursday *Min. Day

1. Read and annotate "Mother Tongue" and "Ain't I a Woman?" 
2. Answer all questions that follow in your notebook. Due by next Tuesday. 

Agenda 3/3/15 Tuesday

1. Roster for AP Lang Practice Test during CAHSEE (see below). 
2. Student samples & commentary:
  • read and annotate: What stands out to you about each essay? What is strong or weak? 
  • put a score of what you think each essay received
3. Peer evaluations w/ justifications using rubric: 

Instructions for Peer Evaluation

-Swap papers with a person sitting near you (you may swap among three people).

-Read through the paper:

    • leave notes on the margins as you see fit
    • put a score at the top of the paper with a justification (use language from the rubric!).
    • refer to student samples as a guide
    • your score should not be more than a point off from what you think I would score it
4. Turn in your papers with peer evaluations/scores on them. 
5. Google Form (follow up/reflection on today's work). Click on link above.   

AP Lang Practice Test Sign up during CAHSEE 3/17 and 3/18

If you click on the link below, you will see a spreadsheet with names of students who already signed up to take the practice test during CAHSEE testing. If you want to take this test but have not signed up yet, click on your period on the bottom tabs and add your name to your period's list. DEADLINE TO SIGN UP: THIS FRIDAY, 3/6. I will ONLY be making copies of tests for the number of students signed up by this Friday. 
  • Periods 2 & 3 will take their test on 3/17, Tuesday, 8 am- 9 am in the library.
  • Periods 4 & 5 will take their test on 3/18, Wednesday, 8 am- 9 am  in the library. 
If you are in APUSH and are planning on attending that review session, it will take place right after the AP Lang practice test.

2. Practice synthesis prompt:
-counterargument guideline
-go over sources and begin writing
-discussion
-finish the rest of the essay at home: due tomorrow 
 

Agenda 2/26/15 Thursday

2. Rationales on yesterday's M/C test: 
  • Create a new document in Google.
  • Title it “Period ___ test rationales”
  • Share it with [email protected]
  • Choose 5 questions you got wrong on the test and do rationales for them for UP TO 5 points. If you are not thorough enough on these, you will not receive the points.
  • You MUST return all tests and scantrons before you leave the class today or you will NOT receive a grade for this test.
