Golden Valley High School Air Force Junior ROTC Cadets Earn a Perfect Score on Annual Assessment

The Air Force Junior ROTC program at Golden Valley High, unit CA-20063, scored an impressive 100% and earned an overall rating of “Exceeds Standards” for the unit inspection, the highest rating attainable. The instructors and cadets exceeded the standard on 10 assessment checklist items and had zero discrepancies—a noteworthy accomplishment. AFJROTC Unit CA-20063 operates out of Golden Valley High School and consists of 108 dedicated cadets. This unit also hosts cadets from two area schools – Hart and Canyon high schools.

This achievement demonstrated the unit’s exceptional performance, dedication and pride, and commitment to excellence. Under the instructional guidance of Lieutenant Colonel (Ret) Juan Gherardy and Master Sergeant (Ret) Winston Cagadas, the program impressed evaluators with its strong cadet leadership, active cadet participation, and selfless community involvement. Their success is also attributed to the unwavering support from Principal Jennifer Ambrose, Assistant Principal Yvett Landeros, and the administrators from Hart and Canyon High Schools.

Three students were honored for their exemplary leadership by our Regional Director - Cadet/Lt. Col. Andrew Almanza-Torres, Cadet/Lt. Col. Edwin Garcia, and Cadet/Lt. Col. Emily Bustamante

The AFJROTC program at Golden Valley High School continues to make a lasting impact on students and the surrounding community, fostering leadership, character, and a sense of purpose among its cadets.
