Course Description
United States government, as a subject for study in high school is intended to inform individuals of their rights and responsibilities as United States citizens. We will be covering a multitude of topics dealing with the founding of the United States up to the most current of national developments including the 2012 election. This course is mandated by the state of California as necessary for a high school diploma.
Students will engage in a variety of activities designed to develop their skills in all aspects of cognitive and social development ranging from individual reading and writing assignments, to solving problems in groups. Students will write historical essays, research papers, create and present PowerPoint presentations, posters, 3-D models, discuss current events, and further develop critical thinking skills using the Socratic method, deductive, and inductive logic.
