Requirements:

--Must be submitted to Turnitin.com by 11:59pm on Dec. 11

--Must be final-draft quality in MLA Format (Times New Roman, Size 12, double spaced, in-text citations, etc.). If you need help, go here.

--Must be 1200-1700 words.

--Must use properly embedded quotations from the book as evidence.

DIALECTICAL JOURNAL

(Don't procrastinate. Trust me.)

Read the excerpt from book VI of The Aeneid and do the following: 

1) Annotate the text, paying close attention to any names mentioned.

2) In the margin, paraphrase / summarize each page in one sentence

3) In the blank space on the last page, write a 3-5 sentence statement about the main idea / purpose of Aeneas' journey to the underworld.

Read the article "Nora, now: A Doll House film for the modern world" and annotate it, marking anything that might be relevant to our socratic seminar discussion tomorrow. 

Then, answer the following question: Based on A Doll House and the short film Nora (linked below), how has society's expectation of women evolved? Is this evolution a change for the better?

--Pretend you are an advice columnist (Dear Abby, Ann Landers, etc.). Nora has written to you about her dilemma (secrets, blackmail, etc.). What advice do you give her?

--Choose a section from act 1 of A Doll House and re-write it as it would appear in a novel. Be sure to consider the point of view carefully. Should you use 3rd person omniscient? First person from Krogstad's point of view? Choose what would best fit your selected passage.
