Reminder: PSAT is this Wednesday, Oct. 16th in the small and large gym if you have signed up for it. Everyone else will still be taking Mrs. Hong's version of the PSAT during regular class hours.

Exit Slip/HW IF NOT FINISHED IN CLASS TODAY: Write your teacher or your principal a letter using ethos, logos, and pathos to persuade her/him that your period 1 class should or should not get every Friday off to do independent study (basically, you would have period 1 class cancelled every Friday and an assignment to do on your own instead). Before you write, do a SOAPSTone on this prompt (S=speaker, O=occasion, A=audience, P=purpose, S=subject, Tone=tone; You can look at the attachment for a chart to help you with SOAPStone) at the top of your paper first. Then, you can write the letter.

If you took your essay home to finish, it must be completed and turned in first thing Friday when you come to your class.

You will have an IN CLASS essay comparing/contrasting the Iroquois Constitution to the Declaration of Independence. Your job will be to analyze the two texts, compare them to each other, and argue which piece is more effective/persuasive. If you are absent, I will post the essay prompt on this website so you can complete it at home. The Iroquois Constitution is on page 24 in your red text book, and the Declaration of Independence can be found in your close reading packet (also on my website), or you can look in your red text books on page 156.

Tomorrow, you will be writing your essay on the Iroquois Constitution and the Declaration of Independence. Please bring all your notes and packest we worked on this week to help you on the essay.

-Declaration of Independence Close Reading Packet (what we've been working on since last Friday) must be completed by tomorrow (don't do the last part where it asks for a FATt and rhetorical precis; we will do this on a separate sheet of paper)
