I apologize for the delay since my last posting. We have been working in class reviewing for the AP test and then spending a couple days decompressing and celebrating the completion of the test last week.
Today all students were given a "Grade Improvement Opportunity" which stated what work they would need to complete in order to improve their grade by one letter grade. The plans were individualized for each student. The handouts necessary to complete the work are posted below. If parents or students have questions, please contact me asap. - Review Sessions for Period 2 are being held this week during lunch on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday - they are helpful and an opportunity for extra credit
- The Extra Credit Diagnostic Test on the Get a Five website must be completed by May 1. The full-length practice test on Get a Five must be completed by May 14 for extra credit.

* I apologize for not keeping up with the posting this week. I have been struggling with a cold and am also a single parent while my husband is out of town for work. As a result, I have not been keeping up with grading or my website as much as I would like. I should be able to get everything caught up over the weekend so we'll be back on track.
* This week students have been working through a PowerPoint and video notes on the Age of Revolutions. The notes pages as well as the PPT and video links (28, 29, 30, 31) are listed below. Anything we don't finish in class on Friday will be concluded on Monday.
* The first AP Review session was Thursday and it covered some overall concepts related to the test. We will start formal reviews of each time period on Monday at lunch. Students are strongly encouraged to attend in order to maximize their study time for the AP Exam.
HOMEWORK
I have not been giving any homework beyond their work on the CST Review Packets. With the STAR testing looming next week, students have received reviews of the CA Standards so they can prepare for the STAR test. Although it does not coincide directly with where we are studying in AP World, anything that is on the STAR test will also show up on the AP test so it is not hurting the students to take the time to complete the reviews. As of Friday afternoon, they should have turned in Clusters 1 & 2 which I will grade over the weekend. They have also received Clusters 3 & 5 which are due next Wednesday (for period 7) and Thursday (for periods 4 and 6). Cluster 4 covers World War II which I will talk about during class on Monday and Tuesday.

For the past four days, students have been working on their Unit 3 Online Test. There are 70 multiple choice questions and 11 short answer so it has been time consuming. Students have been allowed to use their notebooks after the first day.
In addition, students also have had the opportunity to re-take the Winter Break Test or the Chapter 19 Formative Assessment online. Those tests have been available during class and at lunch. In addition, they were available for students to access them online from home starting Monday 2/11 at 6:00 PM and ending Thursday 2/14 at 8:00 AM. This has given students the maximum opportunity to be successful on this part of their grade.
As students have been testing, I have been grading notebooks. Scores will be added to their grades once they are calculated.

1) Daily Warm-Ups on Tuesday and Wednesday in your COMP book. If you were absent, the warm-up will be in your COMP book for you.
2) Winter Break Test - Students worked individually Monday and Tuesday and then in groups on Wednesday to complete a 50-question test based on their winter break assignment of chapters 17 & 20. The test was open-note and therefore test corrections will not be an option.
3) Feudalism Comparison of Europe and Japan - Students have worked in groups all week to research characteristics of feudalism in Europe and Japan. They are then categorizing and drawing conclusions based on their research graphic organizers. The next step was to complete a chart of similarities and differences based on political, social, and economic themes. Finally, students were asked to write a thesis and essay outline in response to a prompt about this topic. All resources are attached.
Due on Friday 1/18: All work from the feudalism comparison will be added to your notebooks which will be collected and graded over the long weekend.
