Quiz on Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God on Friday. You are responsible for reviewing/reading over the rest of the sermon at home. This will be an open book quiz.

-On the same sheet of paper from yesterday, do the Review and Assess questions on page 112 (#1a, 1b, 1c, 3a, 3b, 5a, 5b, 6, and 7b). Do not write questions down. Answer in complete sentences. No “yes” or “no” responses allowed-be as specific as possible.

Create your own bumper stickers!
1) Find a metaphor, simile, imagery or other quote that contains figurative, descriptive language and write it on your card (which will become your “bumper sticker”...if you were absent, just make a bumper sticker out of a blank piece of paper).
2) Draw images, symbols, pictures, etc. that go with your quote.

If you were absent today, you need to do:

1) Journal #4: 10 facts on Jonathan Edwards from page 106 in your lit books.
2) Read "Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God" (starts on page 108) and answer the following 5 questions on a separate sheet of lined paper:

1. Describe what Edwards is saying in his sermon.


2. List one metaphor, simile or figurative language that is used.


3. What is Edwards trying to infer, or imply, about sinners and God?


4. Imagine how you would have felt if you were listening to this sermon directly. How would you react?

5. Based on the above reading, what can you say is a belief of Edwards?

If you were absent today, we had a Journal (vocab. 3.3- get this from teacher in class). Also, today's assignment was to write a persuasive letter to a friend who is about to make a bad decision. Your job is to convince your friend through inspiring reasons, emotional appeals, alternative options, and descriptive, colorful language. The assignment is attached. If you were absent, print this out and choose ONE of the six scenarios and write a letter. Staple the letter to the assignment, put your name and "ABSENT" on it, then turn in.

**I attached a sample letter here as well.

Today, students went over a powerpoint on literary terms. Students made a booklet (out of blank pieces of paper) and for each literary term, they wrote down the definitions, then came up with examples with partners. Students will find examples of each lit term from the book later this week after our upcoming reading. If you were absent or did not finish everything in class, please look over the attached powerpoint and make your own notes.

Also, please note that the Manifestation Board and Values Essay are due next Wednesday, September 26th. Worth a total of 240 points.

**Reminder that PSAT sales start on September 18 to October 12 for $20 at the ASB office. The sales DO run out so do not wait until last minute to purchase. Extra credit if you take this test- just show me the receipt.
