Period 7 - Honors English 9 Assignments

All class material is driven by the California English-Language Arts Standards for 9th grade which can be viewed at http://www.cde.ca.gov/be/st/ss/documents/elacontentstnds.pdf. Using our class text, Timeless Voices, Timeless Themes, Gold Level, and other supplemental readings, we will dive into the realms of essays, short stories, nonfiction, poetry, novels, and dramas. Formal assessment writing, journals, vocabulary, grammar, and mechanics will emerge from different units of study that will cover areas like autobiographical narratives, expository writing, persuasive compositions, response to literature essays, and research reports. Detailed monthly course calendars outlining the number of tests, quizzes, essays, and major projects will be handed out at the beginning of each month.
