Welcome to Golden Valley High School and my web page!

My name is Mr. Darren La Rue and I have been Teaching Graphic Arts since our school opened back in August 2004. As a second career, I feel very fortunate to have been able to transition to the Wm. S. Hart UHSD and start Teaching at Golden Valley when it was brand new. We have a comprehensive academic program in place that encompasses four different classes and also provide a unique after school work program, aptly named Grizzly Graphix, to select students who express a sincere interest and then formally apply for a position.

I have a very strong passion for Teaching the Graphic Arts. My experience began back in the mid-80's when I was still in High School and it became a positive focal point in my life. After years of intense study, I graduated from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo in 1994 with a Bachelor of Science in Graphic Communications. After graduation, I immediately joined the commercial printing industry and worked for several different nationally ranked companies in different capacities throughout the state. After spending nearly a decade in the private sector I decided to return to Graduate School to pursue a California Teaching Credential and Master's Degree in Education program of study at National University in Sherman Oaks, California.

I sincerely hope that my years of expertise, in-depth knowledge, and deep passion for this subject along with my appreciation for all students, will indeed make your learning experience more enjoyable and you more successful while at GVHS. I wish you the best in your studies this semester and hope that YOU take pride in your school!

I welcome parents and students alike to send me an e-mail, even if you just have a simple question. I would humbly ask that before any questions pertaining to grades are asked, that you would sign up with "Infinite Campus" as a parent or student first. As you look over the assignments and grades, I believe that the majority of your questions will be quickly answered. If you still have questions or concerns, we will be on the same page and I will be able to communicate with you more effectively through e-mail. I promise to answer any of your questions to the best of my ability.

Warm regards,
Darren La Rue
