The Search is on for the 2020 Fil-Am JRSAA Scholars!

 

The Fil-Am Association of SCV, Inc. (Fil-Am) is announcing its annual search for candidates for the Jose Rizal Scholastic Achievement Award (JRSAA). This educational achievement award is open to students graduating from high school, who qualify under the established criteria set by the association.

 

Awards: First Prize $ 1,500.00

Second Prize $ 750.00

Third Prize $ 500.00

 

Qualifying Criteria:

  1. Must be of Filipino descent whose parent(s) reside(s) or is/are employed in the Santa Clarita Valley area.
  2. Must be a graduating senior in high school, or an equivalency, and will be enrolling in college. Students enrolling in a college-accelerated program within the same qualifying year are eligible to apply.
  3. Must have earned a minimum GPA of 3.50 (weighted).
  4. Must be involved in extra-curricular activities in school, community, or the Fil-Am Association’s projects or events.

Santa Clarita Valley ACSA 2020 Scholarship

 

The Santa Clarita Valley Association of California School Administrators (SCV ACSA) scholarship is designed to provide for the future, as well as, to connect with the past. The recipients of the scholarships will each be awarded $500.00. They will be awarding 7 scholarships in total with one senior being selected from each high school in the Santa Clarita Valley.

 

Criteria:
• Applicants must have attended Santa Clarita Valley schools for at least seven years, including at least one year at a public elementary school in the Santa Clarita Valley.
• Applicants must have already applied for admittance into a trade school, community college, and/or four-year college/university.
• Applicants must have a current Unweighted GPA of at least 2.5.

 

Process:
1) Application Form
2) An essay written by the applicant: One page, single-spaced (typed; 12 pt. font) addressing the following topic:

ESSAY TOPIC:
How has attending Santa Clarita-area public schools impacted your growth as a young person? Identify a Santa Clarita Valley elementary or junior high public school educator who impacted this growth. Explain why you admire this educator and how they helped shape your life.

2020 APWA Engineering Scholarships

 

Available to Students:

Pursuing a career in civil engineering or public works related field within the Antelope Valley, Santa Clarita, and Victor Valley areas.

 

Number of Scholarships available:

10 scholarships (Possibly more based on available funding)

 

Amount of Scholarship:

$500 - $1,500

In 2019, eleven scholarships of $1,500 each were awarded.

Scholarship Basis:

A combination of student's GPA and financial need

Zonta Club of Santa Clarita Valley

Young Women in Public Affairs Award

 

The Zonta Club of SCV, Young Women in Public Affairs will be presenting a $1,000 award and two $500.00 awards.  Their goal is to encourage more young women to participate in public affairs, volunteerism and civic causes. 

Zonta will provide the Young Women in Public Affairs Award to a young woman of age 16 to 19, who demonstrates evidence of the following:

 

  1. Active commitment to volunteerism.
  2. Experience in local government, student government, or workplace leadership (paid or unpaid).
  3. Volunteer leadership achievements.
  4. Knowledge of Zonta International and its programs.
  5. Advocating for Zonta International’s mission of advancing the status of women worldwide.

 

Recipients of the club award are also eligible to receive a higher award from Zonta International.
