Circle of Friends GV

Circle of Friends (CoF) is an inclusion program at lunch that helps students with disabilities (Friends) form lasting friendships with non-disabled peers (Peer Friends) through meaningful social interactions. In CoF, small groups (3 – 4 students), 'Circles', meet at lunch, once each week, at identified on-campus locations. This time will be spent in positive communication between the gen ed students (Peer Friends) and the special needs student (Friends), sharing ideas, stories and experiences, and just developing a positive friendship. In addition to the weekly Circles, there will be large-group activities, Disability Awareness Presentations, and a year-end award banquet to honor all participants. How to Join Circle of Friends : General education students may apply by submitting a Peer Friend application (see link below); completed Peer Friend applications may be turned in to Ms. Foderaro in room 401. Special Needs students will be identified and invited to apply and invited to join Circle of Friends (their parents will be contacted by staff prior to notifying the student). If you have questions, or would like more information, you may contact, Ms. Foderaro (room 401) or Mr. Nelson (assistant principal's office).
